Labor and Dodge Trucks

We still have a baby who is hanging out inside mommy. While loafing
around I went onto Digg and found this photo. Since Rachel thought it
was so funny I am posting it.

Jeremy just raced a pregnant lady to the bathroom and shamlessly won - taking his first place position on the "podium"

What I Love

West Coast vs East Coast

As some of you may know my family is from California. My parents are in Nor-Cal and my brother and family are in So-Cal. They are coming out to Boston to see the new baby the first week of September. Since my brother and sister-in-law are in LA they drink Starbucks coffee. I thought it would be fun to do a search of Starbucks in the area. I then also decided to do a Dunkin Donuts search. The results were not surprising. The red pins represent a hit. The blue circle is where we live.

Where's the Baby?

Our little lady is not going along with the plan AT ALL.
She needs to come out so I can ground her.

Keep your eyes on August 26th and 27th.

general update

Last Friday (08/08/08) was my last day of work. I am now an unemployed student. It is definitely an interesting experience so far and I haven't even started school yet.
The attic cubby is now complete, with the exception of wall socket covers. The cubby has been renamed to the office. So the office is now complete and I have begun my initial setup of what I will be calling my command center, because command center sounds more empowering than desk.

I also just found out about a fun trick on the iPhone. If you hold down the home button and tap the sleep/wake button, the phone will take a screen shot and save it to the camera roll. So to let you in on my personal life and to show you how I have my iPhone apps arranged I took the following.

On an unrelated note here is a cool website about the amazing things that can be done with origami.

Shoulder Dolly

We have a treadmill. We (Rachel) used to use it. She now has a gym membership. We have been wanting to get rid of the treadmill for about 2 years but because it is so heavy and so very awkward we have dreaded trying to move it down the stairs. We even considered paying somebody to come move it for us. To make a long story short, I decided to try one of the shoulder carrying products that I have heard about and seen movers use. I have to say that I had an idea for a similar product but my vision obviously was not as clear and solidified as the people who ended up making such a product. I purchased a shoulder dolly from Amazon for $32. I figured we would have payed somebody about $50, so it was worth a try.
Our friend Elliott (thanks Elliott) came over on Saturday morning and we moved the treadmill down the stairs and into the garage in under 10 minutes. It was unbelievably easy. I then had him help me move a heavy armoire from the nursery to the place where the treadmill used to be. We didn't even empty out the armoire before moving it. Elliott came and left within 30 minutes and neither of us were tired after we moved two very heavy pieces.
Rachel and I were so amazed for hours after Elliott and I were finished. It was still work, moving those things, but the shoulder dolly made it so much easier. If you end up buying one I would watch the tutorial video on the website. I didn't watch this and we experienced some neck pinching, which is one of the things he tells you how to avoid. Again, we were simply amazed for hours.

And now, just for fun:

Yesterday, we had a good time at the beach in Humarock, MA. Rachel's cousin's family has cottage down there. Rachel had a doctor's appointment, which went well, so we took the rest of the day off and went to the beach. I took a camera and Rachel and I both had our cell phones but we didn't take one picture. I did find the following picture though and I thought it was really funny.

We are almost at 38 weeks and the doc says our baby is around 7 pounds.
