Long Time Coming

Hey All. It seems like a long time has passed since I have done any blogging. Life has been keeping us busy since our return from St. Maarten.

I (rachel) have been continuing to work 1x a week and a mental health counselor and I am enjoying the work very much. I have more male clients on my case load than I have had during my entire tenure at the agency and at one time and I am enjoying the change. (lots of concrete talk and less "how do you feel when"). My big accomplishment lately was finishing the book "cloud atlas" it took me a long time to get though (I am a tad busy) but I made it. I am now taking a break from the serious novel and have subsequently have read a very cheesy murder mystery "white elephant dead" it was perfect. I have also started a scrap book. It was a big deal for me because - gasp - the scrap book was not about the baby! It actually consists of things I would like to see, do, read, listen, watch, bake or study. I have already completed a few. I definitely feel like I am getting my groove back post baby.

Jeremy is working hard at school. It is time for him to apply for internships and we have devised a strategy to help him have a productive search and application process (we hope!). Right now he is singing "Baby Beluga" to Elliott since she hates being taken out of the warm tub. Jeremy has been taking the hog out with the improved weather and his chaps and fancy pants reflective vest vest are very helpful to keep warm, safe and studly.

Elliott is amazing as always. She is sitting up like a champ and trying new foods (sweet potato - yucky! avacado-yummy!). This upcoming week she will be trying butternut squash and green beans. We are hoping she will like them- because we do. Recently we has a play date with a local mom and baby friend. Elliott likes watching the older kids. Perhaps they are teaching her new tricks. We are going to be starting up another class at Isis Maternity together which I am very excited about. It is a 12 week class with songs, bubbles and all sorts of good stuff (thanks papa and suki for the b-day gift we are going to have a great time!). Today we went out to a big "baby stuff" consignment shop sale and got Elliott a few dresses (including an easter dress) and some toys (activity table, basket ball game thingy, pop up toy thingy, wooden bead toy all for a good price). It was a big event, Papa, Suki, Jer and myself went (plus baby, of course). After we went to breakfast. Elliott is very helpful and snoozes in her sling while we eat. It is nice for me that she can relax when we are out (thanks baby).

Here are some cute and gross pictures for you to enjoy.

Baby Steps

Since I know you are more interested in the steps the baby took this week, I will get this next part over with quickly. I watched a lot of HGTV while Rachel and Elliott were gone and felt inspired to paint. The image quality isn't great because I took them with my phone at night since Rachel had the camera. It was a surprise for Rachel and she really likes it.

Now on to the baby. She has become a master of sitting up and rolling over. Here is an example:

We have since lowered the crib mattress for when she starts pulling herself up.

Also, because she is becoming such a big girl, we tried "solid" food for the first time. She didn't really hate it, but definitely didn't like it either.
